Full workshop replay — accessible for 30 days so you can revisit any section as you continue building your plan.
"Have you ever sat down to write your fund development plan… only to close the laptop an hour later, more overwhelmed than when you started?"
You download the template. You stare at it. You wonder: Should I focus on grants? The fundraiser? Building out monthly donors? All of the above? And because you don't have a clear answer, you default to whatever is most urgent that week — and the plan never actually gets built.
You're managing programs, volunteers, grants, and payroll. Thinking two years ahead feels like a luxury. Fund development planning feels overwhelming because no one showed you how to start, or how to start from your reality — your numbers, your goals, your capacity.
That is exactly why I created the Fund Development Planning Workshop.
Be guided step-by-step through the fund development planning process used in well-resourced organizations.
Understand how your funding plan ties directly to your goals for the next five years.
Learn how to build capacity while you grow your program.
Understand what funders actually look for in your growth plans.
Create a 5-year budget forecast that gives you language for funder conversations, multi-year grant asks, and major donor meetings.
Leave with a written Year One fund development plan and a repeatable framework for next year.
The relationships you start building today may not turn into funding until later this year or early next. That is not a reason to wait — it is exactly the reason to start. The sooner you have a plan, the more time you have to activate it.
I help nonprofit Executive Directors build fund development systems that are aligned with their mission, grounded in their capacity, and sustainable for the long term.
Through Kalyani Consulting, I have worked alongside small and growing nonprofits navigating the exact challenges you are facing right now — underfunded leadership positions, over-reliance on grants, and no clear plan for what comes next.
I built this workshop because fund development planning should not be something that only well-resourced organizations can access. Every Executive Director deserves a roadmap built from their reality.
A 3-hour live, hands-on workshop where you build your fund development plan in real time from your actual numbers, your goals, and the capacity you have right now.
We move through the planning process together: you map your budget layers, gut-check your assumptions, align your goals to your most realistic revenue streams, and leave with a plan that tells you exactly where to focus your fundraising energy — and what to stop chasing.
This workshop is for you if you are the primary person responsible for fundraising at your organization, you are working without a dedicated development staff person, and you are done starting over every year with no plan to show for it.
Our commitment to you: If you attend the live session, complete the worksheets, and do not feel clearer about your fund development priorities than when you walked in, email us and we will make it right.
Workshop runs every other month. Spots are limited to keep sessions small and hands-on.
"Imagine walking into your next funder meeting with a three-year forecast, a clear ask, and a plan that shows exactly what their investment makes possible. That is what this workshop builds. And it starts the moment you register."

Why do I need Claude Pro or ChatGPT Plus?
Part of this workshop uses a customized AI prompt to help you generate your 5-year financial forecast. The free versions of these tools have limited capabilities — they time out on longer prompts, cannot process the level of detail we need, and produce less reliable outputs. A Pro or Plus subscription ensures the prompt runs fully, gives you accurate projections, and lets you iterate on your plan in real time during the session. If you do not have a subscription yet, you can sign up before the workshop — both offer monthly plans you can cancel anytime.
What if I can't attend live?
You'll have full replay access for 30 days, along with all the worksheets and templates so you can work through everything at your own pace. That said, the live session is where the magic happens — being in the room with other EDs who are navigating the same challenges is part of the value.
Do I need to have a strategic plan already?
It helps, but it is not required. If you have one, bring it — the workshop will help you translate it into a fund development plan. If you do not have one, come prepared with 3–4 organizational priorities or goals. You will still get enormous value from the session.
Is this a general overview or will I actually build something?
You will build something real. This is a working session, not a lecture. By the end of the three hours, you will have a draft fund development plan, a 3-year budget framework, and a clear picture of where to focus your energy this year.
What size organization is this for?
This workshop is designed for small to mid-size nonprofits — typically organizations with budgets under $500K and Executive Directors who are the primary person responsible for fundraising. If that is you, you are in the right place.
Do I need to bring anything?
Yes — this is in your pre-work. Come with your 3–4 organizational goals or priorities, and last year's actual revenue and expenses if you have them. The more you bring, the more you will get out of the session.
